Paul Verhoeven’s BLACK BOOK best Dutch film of all times
The Dutch public has chosen the feature film BLACK BOOK, directed by Paul Verhoeven, as the best film of all times. The award was initiated by Nederland 2, in coöperation with the Dutch Film Festival, Cinema.nl and VPRO. The award is given once every ten years. The last time, in 1998, the winner was Paul Verhoeven’s Turkish Delight.
Earlier, BLACK BOOK was nominated for a BAFTA and the film was on the shortlist for the Oscars best for. BLACK BOOK has won several awards, like three Gouden Kalveren for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actrice (Carice van Houten). In March, the film has won two Rembrandts for Best Film and Best DVD-release.
The producers of the film are San Fu Maltha (Fu Works), Jeroen Beker (Motel Films), Frans van Gestel (Motel Films) and Jos van der Linden (Hector BV) in coöperation with AVRO. BLACK BOOK was supported by Telescoop, Casema and the government of The Hague. The screenplay is from Paul Verhoeven and Gerard Soeteman.
