'Fu Works newest projects in Screen Daily'

Fu works kicks off football doc

The 'total football' exploits of the celebrated Dutch team of the 1970s are to shown on screen in a new feature documentary being put together by San Fu Maltha's Fu Works.

Brilliant Orange is based on David Winner's book Brilliant Orange: The Neurotic Genius Of Dutch Football.

Maltha is working with US producer Jeffrey Saunders to make the film, which will feature contributions from many of the top talents from the golden era of Dutch footballl.

The film will explore the links between Dutch design, architecture, painting and the geography of Holland with the nation's football.

At the EFM, Maltha also has an English screenplay for Paul Verhoeven's $13 million The Hidden Force, which is now close to being fully financed. Cineart is aboard as the Benelux distributor.

The prolific Dutch producer is also about to commence shooting on Kenau, a historical drama to be directed by Maarten Treuniet, starring Monic Hendrickx and Sylvia Hoeks.

It has received Eurimages funding and Fu Works is producing along Nino Lombardo's PrimeTime and Hungarian outfit I'm Film.

Fu Works is also collaborating with fellow Dutch outfit Submarine on a new feature doc and series called Coalition Warfare about the withdrawal of western troops from Afghanistan. This is being directed by Robert Oey.

MFu Works and Submarine are also preparing to shoot Peter Greenaway's new feature Eisenstein In Guanajuato in Mexico this autumn. Casting is underway and a sales agent will be announced shortly.

Fu Works is also coproducding Coco Schrieber's debut feature, Ola.
