Meet me in Venice
Liza (Roberta Petzoldt) is in touch with reality. She's in a relationship and a mother of a three-year-old boy. Liza never knew her Italian father Mauro (Beppe Costa). He left her when she was three and went travelling as a musician through Europe. One day Liza receives a letter from her father, asking her to come to Venice and get to know each other.
Liza decides to go, but the journey doesn't stop at seven days. Mauro is taking Liza on a musical journey though the countries of the Orient Express route: from the Slovenian capital Ljubljana, the old part of Zagreb, the northern lands of Serbia, the countryside of Bulgaria and the enchantment of the city Istanbul, the final destination of their journey.
It takes a while, but father and daughter are getting to know each other more and more. After a while, they act as if they have known each other for many years.
The story of father and daughter takes us back to the colourful countries of the Balkans. We can see the relationship between Liza and Mauro evolve, through time and space. Thanks to the scenery, culture, music and food in every country they learn about each other and also about themselves.
When Liza arrives in The Netherlands, she realizes that the journey with her father was very valuable. She decides to capture her experiences on camera, so when her son is older, he will understand why she made certain choices.
