About Fu Works

INTRODUCTION
Fu Works Productions was found in 1995 by San Fu Maltha and has grown into one of the most leading feature film production companies of the Netherlands. Fu Works is an independent and internationally oriented production company that produces feature films, documentaries and TV series. Our projects are not just audiovisual; we aim to produce multi platform projects.

San Fu Maltha started out in distribution working for companies like Warner Bros Holland, Columbia Tri Star Holland, Meteor/Polygram Benelux, RCV and Pathe UK. Together with two partners he started A Film which quickly became the leading independent distributor in the Netherlands. In 2005 he sold his shares and focused on only film production.

PRODUCTIONS
Fu Works Productions has produced several feature films, such as the successful films SÜSKIND, TIRZA (Dutch entry Academy Awards), WINTER IN WARTIME (shortlist best foreign film Academy Awards), SPY OF ORANGE, LOVE IS ALL, BLACK BOOK (shortlist best foreign film Academy Awards), COSTA!, PHILEINE SAYS SORRY, TOO FAT TOO FURIOUS and IN ORANGE. The company is not only interested in films with a wider audience appeal, but has also produced documentaries like PARRADOX, 4 ELEMENTS and  MADE IN KOREA and special projects like HER MAJESTY, CARMEN OF THE NORTH, KICKS and the Finnish-Chinese-Dutch cult movie JADE WARRIOR. In 2008, Fu Works produced its first TV drama: WOLFSEINDE.

Spring 2012 we finished the postproduction of MILO, a Dutch-Irish coproduction of first time directors Roel and Berend Boorsma. The film will have its premier in 2012. May until July 2012 we are shooting HET BOMBARDEMENT, a lovestory that takes place during the Rotterdam Blitz at the beginning of World War II, directed by Ate de Jong. The film will be released in The Netherlands December this year. We have two major feature film projects in financing stage - KENAU (Maarten Treurniet) and THE HIDDEN FORCE (Paul Verhoeven) - and these productions will be prepared for shooting in spring and summer 2013.

Fu Works Productions has many feature films and TV drama projects in development such as NADRA, THE LITTLE CAPTAIN, THERESA IMMACULATA, THE POOL, ALMOST DEAD, WESTERLING, TOOS, NEWYEAR, DECENNIUM, DE VEENHEKS, SEEDORF, EXHIBITION, PIM en MAJER & STAAL.

Supporting young talent is an important goal of the company. We love to work with first-time filmmakers to stimulate and support them, individual or on larger projects. We aim to develop trans media and multi platform projects, using the feature film as a base for fiction and non-fiction books, educational projects for schools, documentaries, games, comics and exhibitions.

AUSTRALIA & INDONESIA
San Fu Maltha is not only active in the Dutch film industry. Since 2005, Maltha is involved in the Australian film and television company New Holland Pictures as a major shareholder. New Holland Pictures produced SEPARATION CITY and UNFINISHED SKY, a remake of the Dutch Golden Globe nominee THE POLISH BRIDE. New Holland Pictures was the co producer of the successful sci-fi comedy IRON SKY this year. In 2006 Maltha set up a joint venture with exhibitor group Blitz in Indonesia, called Jive. Jive is an Indonesian distribution company. Blitz is an exhibitor with multiplexes all over Java.
